PDX Emergency Communications has worked endlessly to come up with a solution to help everyone be prepared in communications city/statewide.

Oregon ORPEG Network

ORPEG (Oregon Preparatory Emergency Groups) is a professional, five zone, civil radio system
supporting several user groups. PDX Emergency Communications is the primary ORPEG user utilized to coordinate all emergency and routine services while providing communications for all official business related to PDX Emergency Communications.
The Oregon Preparedness Community uses ORPEG for general safety, information and to obtain assistance and assist others within the user community. This greatly increases the resources of each user within the group during times of need and offers much better situational awareness for incidents across the coverage area.
The ORPEG system offers the national InterGroup radio channel.  A nationally licensed channel available and included with all PEG licensees to offer communication between all PEG licensed groups nation-wide.
Facts about ORPEG.

  • ORPEG does not require an individual radio license per user
  • ORPEG requires users to complete a radio protocol training program
  • ORPEG requires the use of FCC certified radios only (available through PDX Emergency Communications)
  • ORPEG connects several user groups together and is tied into several other PDX Emergency Communications radio networks providing a rich source of information and status updates for local weather, emergencies and other higher priority incidents.
  • ORPEG is connected to the TalkLink radio app for monitoring world wide on a smart phone or personal computer
  • ORPEG offers an alternate form of power at each infrastructure station to ensure uninterrupted communications during power failures and similar events
